The Army Painter | Grimdark Shadow | Masterclass: John Blanche
Unleash the true Grimdark vision on your miniatures
Unleash the Grimdark Vision: With Grimdark Shadow from the Masterclass collaboration between The Army Painter and John Blanche, hobbyists get a wash engineered for expressive, gritty and gothic miniatures. Designed to deepen shadows, push contrast and instantly deliver the iconic, bleak “Blanchitsu” look, this colour is all about mood, texture and story on every model.
Expressive wash for depth, drama and narrative
Grimdark Shadow is a key tone from the Masterclass: John Blanche Paint Set Volume 1 and was co-created with the “Godfather of Grimdark” to darken metallics, armour and blades with a green-brown-black wash while knocking back shine and adding corroded character. Built on The Army Painter’s Warpaints Fanatic technology, it offers controlled flow, reliable shading and a surface that welcomes further layering, glazing and texture work. For retailers, this colour is especially attractive, as it directly targets advanced miniature painters and collectors actively looking for authentic Grimdark tones, with a clear style focus and use cases that can be adopted one-to-one for product pages in any miniature or wargaming webshop.
